GALILEO
Mercer University participates in the Georgia Library Learning Online project (GALILEO). This project is a cooperative purchasing effort to subscribe to over 120 indexes, abstracts and other electronic resources between public and private sector institutions of higher education throughout Georgia. GALILEO databases provide a valuable collection of reference resources as well as many periodical titles, encyclopedias, dictionaries, and public documents in full-text.

The databases may also be searched from a remote computer through the use of a password.  To obtain the current password, you must first complete and return a confidentiality agreement.  Contact Julie Stevens at 678-547-6174 for a form.

Find a Journal
If you find a journal citation in a database, and the article is not available in full-text, go to the Find a Journal search engine and put in the name of the journal. This database will tell you if the journal is owned by Swilley or if the library has access to the journal in another database.

More on Databases
Pubmed - When you search using this link you should be able to see which articles Swilley Library has.  You may not be able to link directly to the articles that are in databases from off campus.  If this happens, contact the Reference Desk for assistance.

Pubmed Tutorials

IDIS - Search for fulltext articles about drugs and drug therapy in humans taken from over 200 peer-reviewed English language medical and pharmaceutical journals. The complete article is also available online (1997 through the current month). IDIS does not index cover to cover. Searchable from your PDA

Hint: Use the Lookup features for a successful search.  More on how to do this...

Ovid - You can search the Medline database or choose Your Journals@Ovid to search only the 265+ fulltext journals we have in a non-Medline database.

Tutorial from the Duke University Medical Center Library

Cochrane Library - You can search the database, but not view the fulltext systematic reviews from off campus.  Contact the library's pharmacy liaison if you would like to view one of the reviews.
